Ariel de Man
The Statement
In 2000, Maia and I were working on a show at Theater Emory. This was a couple of years after we graduated,
and I had been teaching high school and living in Europe studying acting and Spanish. During the long breaks of tech rehearsals,
Maia started talking about starting a theater company. Before we knew it, a year had passed and we were producing our first show,
Les Parents Terribles. Our first review was titled "Out Of Hand, Out Of This World". Wow, was that an amazing moment.
Since that first show, we've made it a priority to cultivate this amazing group of artists: to train together and create new work together,
so that our shows can be smarter, funnier, more beautiful and surprising, and so that we can get more new people excited about theater.
Now all I want to do is develop new work with my peeps. There's nothing to beat the feeling of standing back stage and listening to an
audience go wild over something you wrote and staged with people you love.
