The Statement
I really ended up with Out Of Hand because my mom believes in signs. She saw the article about
Out Of Hand in American Theater, and mailed to me with a note saying “This looks like what you want to do!” I had met Adam
the summer before, and called my mom saying I knew one of the artistic directors. She immediately saw it as a sign, and
encouraged me to visit Atlanta and peep the company. I came for two days, and on the flight home wrote a bit of a love
letter to Out Of Hand, professing all sorts of admiration and delight and loving. They didn’t judge me too much for it,
and I moved down in September 2005 to hang around the company and get involved. Sweet funding came in for a new staff
position in the spring of 2006, and I was officially on board. It’s a lucky life- getting to perform and getting to help
grow the company financially and professionally. Hooray for my momma.
