Steve Yockey

The Statement
I joined the company during the creation of HELP! in 2004 and never
looked back. The work, whether on an existing script or a new creation, is always
thrilling, challenging, dynamic and it absolutely forces everyone involved to exercises
muscles in new, unexpected ways. Especially the audience. It’s safe to say I never feel
“comfortable” or “at ease” working on an Out of Hand show and that is just brilliant. Brilliant.
Adam and I get drunk and bond over ridiculously idealistic statements like “Good theatre
should be scary. It should either be an amazing success or a spectacular failure; nothing in between.”
But it’s that exact element that keeps me zealously engaged in the work. And it also ensures that
I’ll always be a loud, cantankerous, over-zealous fan. “I rock and I’ll stand on your face!”
