Shaking the Wind is the true story of a black girl growing up in Atlanta. Minka brings to life the many characters from her lonely and hilariously awkward coming of age.

Join Minka as she comes to terms with her mother's fundamentalist, street preacher ideals, her families idiosyncrasies, and her many trials and triumphs with humor, tears and song.

Thomas W. Jones II has directed, written, and performed in more than 150 plays worldwide. His work has received 39 Washington, DC Helen Hayes Award nominations, winning 12 awards, including Best Director for Home and Bessie’s Blues, which he also wrote.

Minka has been acting for 14 years and singing for 31 years. She is a staple of the Atlanta theatre scene. Learn more at

S. RENEE CLARK has had a very exciting career in music. She’s performed in all types of ensembles ranging from jazz, dance, soul, funk, rock and country music to gospel, choral and classical. She is an Associate Artis at Theatrical Outfit.

Dramatic Writer for stage, screen, television and new media. Museum Theatre. Immersive Theatre. Directing for the stage . Dramaturgical work on new plays and screenplays. Teaching Artist and workshop facilitator for young theatre artists.
